Who gets to keep the dog?

My former girlfriend and I recently parted ways, which was a mutual choice. When we were together we got a dog (in my pic). Everything has been split right down the middle but we can't decide who gets the dog. We both want him. I've suggested that we split or time with the dog to be fare but she wants nothing to do with that and wants a clean break. So what do I do?

If she wants a clean breakup she needs to give up the dog. Otherwise she needs to act mature and realize the dog is like a child and can't just be taken away from its parent. If she refuses you can either go to court and settle this or you can give up the dog. I really don't think you should give up your dog because I just know how hard that will end up being for you emotionally. You'll get angry at yourself and then at here and turn into a person you don't want to be. This girl needs to grow up, likely this break is the best thing for you.

Your exgirlfriend is taking the dog as hosttage, this means that she still has feelings towards you, that maybe is not too bad, but please take into consideration that the dog, needs both, is like a 3 years old child, that is loosing their family, this could be traumatic, help both the dog.

  1. wintheguy31: How do you help the dog?
  2. Gibrankhalil: Ups, almost forget, the best way to help is by sharing both your time with the dog. hope your ex-girlfriend give up on that selfish attitude.
