What is polyamory?

What is polyamory? And how is polyamory different than an open relationship? Or is polyamory the same thing as an open relationship with having more than one loving, intimate partners at a time, meaning multiple people dating at the same time with consent?

No one says it better than Wikipedia: "Polyamory is the desire, practice, or acceptance of having more than one loving, intimate relationship at a time with the full knowledge and consent of everyone involved."

I think what you are thinking of when you ask What is Polyamory is when one person marries several spouses. Polyamory is different from an open relationship because open relationship do not involve marriage, where polyamory does.

Open relationships involve more than two people but unlike polyamory these people are not married, the people in an open relationship are just dating one another at the same time.
